Pastoral 2 Timothy 2:2 Training
The successful training for pastors and leaders in east Africa to multiply through a 2 Timothy 2:2 model is well documented through testimony after testimony. To date GEM has over 100 global Intercessory Prayer teams and the 2 Timothy 2:2 model has produced a multitude of church plants in several countries. Tribes are ministering to different tribes that they used to hate. Denominational wall have been brought down instilling unity between churches. Biblical models are being followed through prayer and evangelism. Remote areas are being reached for Jesus.
Thousands upon thousands of Timothies have been raised through the GEM model. Many of our initial pastors, leaders, evangelists, and intercessors have multiplied to the 7th tor 10th generation of Timothies. Tens of thousands of people have come to Christ and are being discipled through the Grace Extended Ministries Timothy model.
Supporting a pastor or Christian leader costs only $50 per month (to cover training costs) and is one of the greatest investments you can make. God is multiplying the efforts of the Timothies as they train and equip others. There is no better eternal investment because the return is eternal. It is very inexpensive training for a lot of multiplication and an abundance of fruit.
Bibles
In 2024 we have provided over 3000 Bibles to east Africa. We received some generous donations dedicated to Bibles. That money in the bank does nothing, but spent putting the Word of God into the hands of those who need a Bible does everything. Many have never owned a Bible of their own, and the look of joy they have when receiving one is incredible to see,
Almost no child anywhere in Africa that I have seen owns a Bible. In 2023, we raised funds for children’s Bibles and distributed many. In Burundi, often called the poorest nation in the entire world, this has been an incredible blessing with potential to reach many generations.
Translation of GEM Lessons
Most of GEM’s teaching materials are translated into Swahili (Kenya and many other places in east Africa), Kirundi (Burundi), Lugandan (Uganda), and Kinyarwanda (Rwanda). Other language translations
The cost of translating our materials can be several hundred dollars per translation. We provide all our teaching materials for free when we train, often in remote areas where many locals do not speak English.
Clean Water For Evangelism
Mbale is a town in eastern Uganda, population of about 100,000. We partner with a church in Mbale as our “base” when we go there to train. The water source in Mbale became tainted in 2024, resulting in an outbreak of cholera. This is not uncommon. We are working with our base church to drill a deep well with a solar panel pump to be used by any who need a source of clean water. While there are no strings attached, people coming for water will be greeted by church members who are trained to share the Gospel. Verses regarding “living water” – what that is and how to get it -will be posted and explained as an outreach to the community.
While this is not a normal method of outreach withing GEM, we are led through prayer to participate. God has provided a donor church that may cover the entire cost.
International Sports
Grace Extended Ministries (GEM), partnering with More Than Gold, has focused on prayer and evangelism around major sporting events. They held prayer and training events before the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, the 2012 Eastern European Soccer Championships in Ukraine, the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and the 2018 World Cup in Russia. These efforts led to ongoing prayer movements in those regions. Despite the war in Ukraine impacting sports ministry, the prayer movement established there continues. In Russia, a “Warrior” style camp for teenagers resulted in 50 young men praying a prayer of repentance. In Uganda, GEM is using soccer camps to engage fathers with their sons, teaching biblical principles and demonstrating God’s love, leading to family restoration and conversions.
